Countless singers and musicians have been inspired by Claude Nougaro over the years, although none of them have ever sought to reproduce his unique Toulousan accent or his succulent swing style. A number of Nougaro's songs have entered the great French chanson pantheon and are regularly revived in a broad range of styles. Armstrong has been reworked reggae-style, Bidonville was redone as a bossa nova hit, Sing Sing inspired a rock cover and Paris mai was recently recorded by a slam star. Listen to RFI Musique's selection of Nougaro covers.
