RSS: directions for use

11/04/2006 -

Subscribe to RFI Musique's RSS feeds and have all the latest updates on articles published on rfimusique.com sent directly to your computer. This is a free service.

What is an RSS feed?

RSS (an abbreviation of Really Simple Syndication) is a data feed of constantly updated content from a web site. The RFI Musique feed delivers the titles of all the latest articles published on rfimusique.com together with hyperlinks allowing users to access articles in full. The data is transmitted in XML (Extensible Markup Language) format.

What is it used for?

RSS is a simple, practical and free service which sends users frequent alerts allowing them to stay up-to-date with what is happening on a web site. In other words, instead of users browsing websites for information, the information is sent directly to them. RSS feeds update automatically without users having to connect to their chosen website at all. As soon as a new article is published, users are informed via their desktop and can simply click on the title to access the article required.

How does it work?

To start using RSS feeds, you will need to install a news reader on your computer. RFI Musique recommends the use of a free piece of software called ALERTINFO (developed in France by GESTE).

If you already have another reader (such as "Newsreader") installed on your computer or have access to message software with an RSS option (such as "Firefox") you can simply add RFI's RSS feeds to your information channels by going to: http://www.rfimusique.com/musiqueen/dynamiques/fluxrss.aspx
